Why I became an Emirates Cabin Crew

World, here I come!

First thing you relate to Emirates is probably Dubai. Living in this metropolitan city for almost 6 years has definitely showed me that my initial thought was correct. Huge, enormous city, heat and beach life all year round. Having residence visa and travelling the world is what I’ve been doing for the past years. I’ve stepped on every single continent, ok, except Antarctica. Having this so called glamorous life gave me lots of opportunities to travel, meet different cultures and explore all the places that I always wanted to visit. Emirates provides us free accommodation, tax free salary, one annual leave ticket and many discounted tickets with other airlines. So if you want to go somewhere that it’s not on the Emirates network, you can easily book your tickets with some other airlines. Not to mention that we have a Face Card which allows us discounts in many of the bars. restaurant, hotels, beach clubs and gyms in Dubai. Having a free pool access using this card is highly convenient for us because you want to make the most of your days off, right?

We are getting a monthly schedule with our flights so you can see and plan where you will be in the next 30 days. It’s quite exciting when you see that you will be in Venice for the weekend, in Singapore on Monday, then you plan your shopping in Barcelona for the upcoming vacation and so on. Although it sounds amazing, I have to admit that is quite tiring. But every job is, correct me if I’m wrong. Sleepless nights and jet lags are first on the list that you need to consider before applying for a Cabin crew. Making your sleeping pattern will not be very possible since you have flights at different timings and different zones of the world. But I’m sure you will learn how to do it, everyone did!

Pretty girls with immaculate make up are everywhere. Generally speaking, in Dubai everyone loves make up. And in Emirates, there are standards that we follow on a daily basis when it comes to getting ready for work. Another good thing, at least for me, is that we have uniforms. That means less hustle in the morning, no issues on what to wear today, did I wear it 2 days ago, what shoes to combine with this and so on. There is a laundry service in the accommodation and in the Headquarters, so you can drop it off and pick it up in 2 days. For free! Always have it clean and tidy in your closet.

I had a passion for travelling ever since I was a kid. Now I’m very grateful that I have the chance to travel independently and visit everything that’s on my list. I find it important to highlight that it’s not everything about service and appearance, even though the majority of the time is. Crew are trained for emergency situations, safety & security as well as medical procedures. You know when you are on a plane and suddenly it becomes turbulent, first reaction is you stare at the air hostess, what is she going to do, how is she going to react. Well, that’s why we are there, to make sure everyone gets safe and happy to their destination. Meanwhile, at the lounge that the Airbus 380 has, you get to chat with people all over the world and learn about their travels and experience, which is great! You never know who are you going to meet!

Looking at the cosmopolitan part of the story, you will make friends from all over the world, widen your horizons, share daily adventures and live your life on a global level. The best part of my job is when I get to fly with friends. That’s a possibility because we have a system on which we can swap flights. So if you rather go to London instead of Kuala Lumpur, feel free to change it. Have your weekend planned ahead, book special tickets for friends & family, have your salary every month without any delays, visit the wonders of the world, those are the main reasons why I love my job!

If you have further inquiries don’t hesitate to contact me. I’ll be writing another article on “How to become Emirates Crew”, so stay here and wait for some good news.

Until then, happy travels!
